Considering a payments sales job? Questions to ask before accepting

A job title tells you less than a clear explanation of the daily work. Ask whether the role is employed or self-employed, field based or remote, and whether leads are supplied, self-generated or a mixture. Confirm working hours, territory, travel costs and the expected onboarding period.

For commission, ask for the written rules: what event earns payment, when it is paid, which products qualify and whether cancellation can trigger a clawback. Examples should show realistic outcomes at different performance levels. Keep base pay, commission and expenses separate when comparing offers.

Ask how performance is measured, what training is provided and who handles customer support after a sale. Do not post confidential employer documents or customer information here.

For a vacancy, state the employer, role location, employment type, pay structure, date and a verifiable application route. Disclose if you are the recruiter or earn a referral fee. There are no implied or invented vacancies in this starter discussion.
