PAYMENTS WHERE YOU WORK

Card machines for tradesmen and mobile businesses

Give customers a practical way to pay when the job is complete. Choose around where you work, your typical invoice value and whether the customer is with you when they pay.

The short answer

A portable card terminal, compatible-phone tap-to-pay or a payment link can suit different trade workflows. Awais is a Payment Consultant working with takepayments / Global Payments. Explain your jobs and payment timing so the proposed setup reflects how your business operates.

Take payment at the job

TP+ on the PAX A920 Pro gives you a dedicated terminal and receipt printer. The A920 Pro supports chip and PIN, contactless, Wi-Fi and cellular connectivity. Ask for the appropriate mobile setup and check the coverage where you work. A 4G option still needs a usable signal; it does not guarantee reception at every property.

03

Build the quote around your jobs

Give Awais your expected monthly card turnover and typical job value. Explain whether you collect money after completion, take deposits or use staged payments, and mention unusually large invoices. These details help the provider assess the proposed activity. Compare all applicable fees, the contract term and settlement arrangements before agreeing to proceed.

Common questions

Can I take payment at a customer's property?

A suitably configured A920 Pro can connect through mobile data or Wi-Fi. Check the connection where you work and discuss what to do when coverage is poor.

Can I send a payment link after completing the job?

Yes. A payment link lets the customer complete payment remotely. Confirm the amount and include a clear job or invoice reference when sending the request.

Can I accept deposits or larger job payments?

Explain the amounts and the time between payment and completion during the application. The provider must confirm which activity and payment methods it can approve for your business.

Does tap-to-pay replace every terminal function?

No. A phone has no card-insertion slot. If contactless cannot complete, another supported payment method may be needed. Discuss your usual job values and customer payment habits before choosing.
