Business funding: what questions clarify the total cost and cash-flow impact?

Start with the amount your business would receive and the total amount it would have to repay. Ask for all fees, the collection schedule and the expected duration in writing. A percentage, a factor or a daily deduction does not tell the whole story without the amounts and timing behind it.

If collections depend on sales, ask what happens when turnover falls or the business closes temporarily. If there are fixed repayments, compare them with cash remaining after normal operating costs. Check whether a guarantee or security is required and what happens if you repay early or miss a payment.

Which part of a funding proposal is unclear? Describe the structure using rounded figures and remove names, account numbers and private documents.
