How do you compare two card processing quotes fairly?

A lower headline percentage does not by itself tell you which quote will cost less. Start with the same monthly turnover, transaction count and debit, credit and other card mix for both quotes. Add per-transaction charges, terminal rental, recurring service fees and any minimum monthly charge. Check which items overlap before adding them together.

Then compare the contract term, setup cost, exit cost and notice requirements. Ask each provider to confirm exclusions and the total payable in writing. Treat any calculation as an estimate until those details are known.

For a useful discussion, share rounded monthly turnover, average sale, number of terminals, quoted percentage and pence charges, fixed monthly costs and contract length. Remove your merchant number, account details and identifying customer information. Quotes can differ by business and date, so one merchant’s offer is not a promise of the same price for everyone.

What fee or condition made the biggest difference when you compared offers?
