DOJO ALTERNATIVES

Dojo alternatives: compare fees, devices and locations

A lower percentage is useful only if the full proposal meets the needs of your business. Compare hardware, features, service and the agreement together.

The short answer

Compare the full Dojo package you use—rates, devices, services and location charges—with a proposal based on the same business. Preserve the workflows that matter, such as till integration and reporting. Lower recurring costs do not automatically justify exit or transition costs.

01

Use current package details

Dojo’s UK pricing page, checked 5 October 2026, advertises a 1.2% blended transaction rate below £100,000 annual card turnover. Above £100,000 it describes custom rates, with 12-month fixed or 30-day rolling options. Confirm eligibility and what applies at the threshold in a written quotation.

Hardware and service plans are separate parts of the comparison. Published monthly device prices include £25 for Go Max, £20 for Pocket and £15 for Wired; upfront purchase options also appear. Essential is listed as free per location. Plus shows an £11.99 monthly per-location offer for new customers and new locations from 24 August 2026, against a displayed £25 price. Confirm VAT, offer duration and ongoing charges in your quote.

Annual card turnover is not monthly turnover or total revenue. £20,000 a month by card is approximately £240,000 annually if that month is representative. Compare the complete written quotes, including the devices and locations you actually need.

02

Preserve the workflows you rely on

A restaurant may value till integration, split bills, tips and staff permissions. A retailer may prioritise refunds and reconciliation. Make a list of the functions you actually use, then confirm them against any replacement.

Do not accept an unsupported promise that integration or settlement will be identical. Ask for written details of the exact setup, including fees, cut-offs, weekend arrangements and support.

03

Compare the total at every location

If a hypothetical optional service costs £15 per location per month, three locations add £45 per month or £540 per year. This is an illustration, not a Dojo price. Check whether each quoted charge applies per device, per location or per business.

Awais can assess whether a takepayments / Global Payments solution offers a useful improvement for your situation. You may decide there is no strong reason to move.

04

Distinguish a device cost from a service plan

An upfront device purchase, monthly hardware charge and per-location service plan affect the comparison in different ways. Ask which charges continue after a promotion and what happens if you add another site or remove an optional service.

Build both a year-one calculation and a recurring-month calculation. A package can look lower in one view and higher in another, especially where setup or upfront hardware costs differ.

Common questions

Can you reproduce every Dojo feature?

Availability must be checked for the specific solution through Awais’s role. Do not assume features transfer between providers.

Should I compare on annual or monthly turnover?

Use whichever the provider asks for and label it clearly. Convert using a representative period and account for seasonality.
